Matt Umstead

I have been diving through York Divers since the summer of 2010 after obtaining my PADI Open Water certification. Throughout that summer I received my Advanced Open Water certification and began working at the store in the spring of 2011. While being enrolled as a full time student at Penn State University, studying Archaeological Science, I received my Rescue Diver certification and my Handicap Scuba Association Adaptive Dive Buddy certification. I went further in my education by taking the Intro to Technical Diving course then began work on my PADI Divemaster Certification. I have been a PADI Divemaster through York Divers since the spring of 2013 and look to further my dive education every time I get in the water. Some of my most memorable dives were off the coast of North Carolina and off the coast of Acre, Israel. I focused my college career around mapping and underwater archaeology, which became helpful while diving off the coast of Israel. I was part of a small archaeological dive team that documented and excavated several shipwrecks off the coast during the summer of 2012. I hope to make my next dive adventures to destinations less traveled and full of culture.
